Speak&Act

Speak&Act is an Erasmus+ project which focuses on public speaking (PS) as a methodology for teaching and learning Citizenship Education in the secondary school setting.

Speak&Actis a 36-months project, involving 5 organizations – three secondary schools andtwo organizations – from four countries: Italy, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia.It focuses on public speaking (PS) as a methodology for teaching and learningCitizenship Education in the secondary school setting.

The objectives

• Improve Personal and Social competence and Citizenship competence among school students;
• Promote various forms of Public Speaking as a mean for developing Personal and Social skills;
• Increase students’ participation and activism at community level.
  

The target groups

School students

• improve their PS skills and foster so their self-esteem and level of participation
• be more aware of the role they can play within the community at local, national or EU level and thus reinforce their citizenship.

School teachers

• explore innovative, transdisciplinary and effective ways of integrating Citizenship education into curricular subjects by learning from EU colleagues and practicing students’ participation
• include Public speaking techniques in their pedagogical approaches and innovative students’ assessment methods.
  

The activities

• to set up and launch co-design labs at national level, where teachers and students collaborate on defining a curriculum for Citize4nship Education through PS
• to run transnational virtual mobility for peer exchange across countries, and based on this, to implement the co-designed Learning scenarios
• to raise awareness among teachers and students on the different types of PS possible through targeted training
